Are my taxes going up? When will I receive my tax bill (07/29/2018)
The property mil rate (tax per $1000 of assessed value) remained flat between FY2018 and FY2019 at $19.38. We were able to cover the needs of the city and the schools without raising the mil rate because of a 4.7%, or $100,591,593, growth in our total property value. New development accounted for about 20% of this growth and a valuation increase on existing properties accounted for about 80% of this growth.
Some citizens may be concerned that their property value and taxes have gone up. However, existing property values have gone up an average of 3.7% year over year, which is still far lower than the 9.95% growth in the market value of homes across the state.[i]
Tax bills will be sent by the third week of August 2018. The first half of taxes are due September 14, 2018 and the second half are due on March 8, 2019.
