Main Street utility improvement project Phase II
Construction will soon begin on the next phase of the lighting project on Main Street. This will involve the area from City Hall to the Beach Street intersection. The plans for this project have been finalized and bids were opened on May 6th. At the time this is being written the start date has not been determined, it is likely that the work will start in early June however.

The work will include new lighting, sidewalks, trees, and improvements to the right turn lane at Joe Riley Park including traffic signals. The overhead wiring will be removed and underground electrical will serve the buildings and street lights, the existing poles will be replaced with new street lights to match the rest of Main Street. The sidewalks will be removed and replaced with concrete pavers similar to those around the Post Office and new trees will be planted. At Joe Riley Park the existing curb and sidewalk will be removed and the corner will be reworked to facilitate turning traffic and the traffic signal will be replaced.

This project will complete the Main Street revitalization plan and will enhance the appearance of the Main Street corridor and improve safety of pedestrians and motorists.
